Universal Studios 04-28-18
The Clarks came out so that we could all go to Universal Studios one last time before our passes expire. Cecily and I met them there after school on Friday. We rode a few rides then grabbed dinner at City Walk before heading to the hotel in Glendale.

After breakfast at the hotel, we headed back to Universal Studios. We had a fun last day at the park, going on rides and seeing the Animal Actors show. Caren wore Cecily's birthday button and got a free Minion cupcake at lunch. Then we waited in the longest line ever for our last tram tour. We grabbed dinner at City Walk again before heading back to Huntington Beach. Cecily was so happy to have a fun weekend with her cousins! Hopefully they will get Knott's passes for next year!

GS Field Trip 04-23-18
Kelly coordinated our annual Earth Day field trip for Girl Scouts to the Child Creativity Lab Depot for Creative Reuse. The girls made robots out of trash and had a fun time building their creations. They all looked so cool after they were painted! We also celebrated Alexsia's 14th birthday with cake.

Cecily decided last minute that she wanted a birthday party, so we squeezed in an early morning ropes course and yummy desserts at Creme & Sugar on Sunday morning.

Kaylei's Birthday Party 04-21-18
Busy day for Cecily! We stopped by Olivia's club soccer game to meet her coach (who happens to be the frosh/soph coach at Marina) and Madison's AYSO soccer game before Cecily spent the evening celebrating Kaylei's 14th birthday at her Pink themed party.

Spring Conference Week 04-13-18
It was Spring Conference week at Marine View, so Caren fed the teachers all week as the last duty of her Hospitality position for PTA. Cecily helped with some set-up and clean-up for community service hours, but she also enjoyed her week of half-days at school.

Yosemite 04-06-18
Richard had been dying for us to go to Yosemite, so he finally booked our cabin last fall. Although having the dog made planning a little more difficult (Amy Aala helped recommend a great pet-sitter), we enjoyed heading up to Yosemite during Cecily's Spring Break. Our first stop was Oakhurst where we stayed for one night. The hotel had a nice indoor pool and free breakfast.

After breakfast, we headed into the park. Once inside Yosemite, we stopped along the way to check out some views of Half Dome and Bridalveil Falls. After we took a quick break for lunch at the Majestic Hotel (formerly Ahwahnee Hotel), we headed to Tuolumne Grove. Richard was disappointed that Glacier Point was closed because of the snow, but he enjoyed seeing the snow and sequoia trees in the grove. Then we headed to Half Dome Village (formerly Curry Village) to check in to our cabin.

Day two we started off bright and early to hike the Mist Trail up to Vernal Falls. Caren got really bad blisters on her heels from the day before, but she powered through. It was a strenuous hike, but the view at the top was amazing, and we got the best picture of the entire trip along the way (Cecily's back with the falls in front of her). We were glad we hiked early, as there were huge groups of people coming up as we were going back down. After eating lunch at the pizza place in Half Dome Village, we walked off the beaten path towards Yosemite Village, where Cecily recognized a teacher from her school (Mrs. Robinson) as she rode by on her bike.

On day three, we were told of an upcoming storm that would cause flooding, so they pretty much kicked everyone out of the park. As we left Yosemite, we stopped for more pictures and to hike lower Yosemite falls. We were glad that we packed a lot of sights in our first two days since we had to leave Yosemite early. We took a different road to exit and stopped for photos at the Yosemite National Park sign. Driving back home, we stopped in Kingsburg to check out the teapot water tower and then Black Bear Diner right before the grapevine for dinner. We were home a day early and picked up Willow the following morning. She had so much fun at the boarder's house that she pretty much slept all day.

Knott's 04-02-18
We started off Spring Break with a quick trip to Knott's to check out the Boysenberry Festival. Luckily, we grabbed a picture with Snoopy the Easter beagle as we entered the park. We tried the boysenberry boba (which was not very good and did not look like all the other boba drinks that others were getting), and then we bought some boysenberry candy to bring home to Richard. We headed home after grabbing some lunch.

Easter 04-01-18
Happy Easter! We headed up to Pasadena for dim sum with Caren's family. The kids enjoyed an egg hunt at Grandma and Papa's house before we went home. Of course Caren had to take pictures of Cecily with the giant Thumper. We've had Thumper for 14 years now!
