Easter Fun 03-29-15

On Saturday, Papa came to hang out with us while Grandma was up visiting Pua Pua and Gung Gung. We took him to the Easter Egg Hunt at the Huntington Harbour Mall, then Cecily and Papa rode bikes over to Harbour View to play handball. 03-28-15 On Sunday, we met up with Paige, Kayla, and Sean at John Baca Park for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Afterwards, we took Paige to Bella Terra for lunch and to see the Easter Bunny. 03-29-15 http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V07g

Reflections 03-25-15

In the fall (October 4, 2014), Cecily submitted a photo in the PTA Reflections contest. The theme was "The World Would be a Better Place if..." We had gone down to the beach for Cecily to take photos of the sunset, but instead she got an amazing shot of her footprint in the sand. To describe the picture, Cecily wrote, "The world would be a better place if people would stop littering on the beach and throwing their trash in the ocean. She ended up winning 1st place for Photography in the upper grades 3-5. At the Pelican Pride Assembly today, they celebrated all the participants and winners for the Reflections contest. Cecily got an awesome trophy for her first place photograph. Congratulations, Cecily! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0uw

Cotillion 03-24-15

Our last dressy Cotillion of 5th grade was tonight. Sophia and Jaxon won first place in the game with balloons. Cecily ended with Tyler as her partner again before we went for ice cream with Alexsia at Baskin Robbins. Can't wait to see all the costumes at our final 5th grade Cotillion in May. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0qg

Soccer Game & Casino Night 03-21-15

We drove to Garden Grove to play Region 28 Team Ramos. The other team was super rough, injuring 5 of our girls during the game with one going home afterwards with a concussion. But our girls held their own, and we tied the game 2-2. After the game, we stopped by HMart to grab lunch and buy some Asian food. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0iA
In the evening, it was Harbour View's annual Casino Night fundraiser. This year the theme was Roaring 20s, and it was held at the Huntington Harbor Bay Club. Caren headed over to Susan's house for appetizer and drinks before heading over to the Bay Club. It was a fun night, and Caren won tickets for the Santa Barbara Zoo which Cecily wanted for us to use over Spring Break. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0mQ

Girl Scout Bronze Award & Timree 03-18-15

Our Girl Scout troop finally planned out and held the Spirit Wear Upcycle Event for their Bronze Award on Wednesday. They ended up adding a book drive too for the Lake View school library. Everyone loved the upcycling idea, but we did not get that great a turn out. It was a good learning experience though. On Thursday night, Caren and Shari went to Timree to paint a cute San Francisco picture in honor of their upcoming Girl Scout bridging event in May. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0dw

St. Patrick's Day 03-17-15

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Can't believe it's been 15 years since our very first St. Patrick's Day together.
Since it was parent/teacher conference week, we had short days all week. So after school today, we headed to the Sussex Teapot Tearoom to celebrate with afternoon tea. For dinner we had corned beef and cabbage before Cecily headed off to soccer practice. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0Zg

Soccer Game 03-14-15

We were lucky our game was first thing this morning at 9 because it was a HOT day! The other team looked intimidating as they warmed up, but our team played a stronger game with excellent teamwork to win 4-1 to Region 56 Team Allen. Since it was also Pi Day, we headed to lunch at Marie Calendars to enjoy some pot pies and delicious cherry, peach, and banana cream pies. Afterwards, Cecily went swimming at her friend and neighbor, Kaitlyn's house. They ended up coming back to our house for a sleepover. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0VQ

Soccer & Cookies 03-07-15

Cecily's spring soccer team consists of half of her team from fall (Tsunami Strikers). But she was also reunited with her teammates from the Galaxy as well. It was great to be all back together. The Narwhals played a fantastic game and won 2-1 against Region 56 Team Konka. What a fabulous start for our spring season! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0Mw
After the game, we stopped at Home Depot to build some bookends before going to Vons to help out at our last Girl Scout Cookie Booth. We were supposed to go to Jordan's 2nd birthday, but just couldn't make it out to San Bernardino to help him celebrate. Cecily decided to wear her minion shirt in honor of Jordan's minion themed party that we missed. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0RA

Walk Through the Revolution 03-05-15

In fourth grade, the kids did Walk Through California. This year in fifth grade, it was Walk Through the Revolution. The kids dressed up in colonial costumes and memorized words and lines. Cecily's two words she had to memorize and say were "Writ of Assistance" and "militia/minutemen." It was fun to watch them learning about the American Revolution. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0Ig

Girl Scout Cookies 03-04-15

After our brief Girl Scout meeting to go over last minute details for our Bronze Award project, we separated the girls who were not in that evening's Talent Show to two cookie booth sales: one at the Huntington Harbour Mall and the other at Albertson's. Cecily and Ava had fun doing the Freddy dance from "Troop Beverly Hills" to attract some customers. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0EQ

HB "Snow" & Cookies 03-02-15

After the rain, downtown Huntington Beach had some hail which turned into some "snow" at the beach. Too bad we missed out taking our own pictures. Cecily had asked to do a mother/daughter cookie booth, so we went to Trader Joe's in the evening. It was sooooo slow since cookie season was coming to an end. We were lucky to get some pity sales since people felt bad for us sitting out in the cold. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3V0AA

Brayden's Birthday & Cookies 03-01-15

Happy 6th Birthday, Brayden! We helped him celebrate at his Bounce U party. It was supposed to be at Amy's house with a taco cart, but it got rained out and switched to Bounce U. Although Cecily only knew Chloe, she still had fun going down the big slides. When we got home, Cecily and Sophia went around the neighborhood again to sell some Girl Scout Cookies. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3Vz-A
