Although she wouldn't get to finish the whole week, Cecily was excited to go to Redeemer Lutheran's VBS for two days. The theme this year was "Gangway to Galilee." On Monday, she made a foam ship, and today she made a paper fish. She was so concerned with missing out on the rest of the week that she was able to get the crafts that she would miss to take home to finish. Boomer's 06-20-14

To celebrate their great job selling cookies and the end of the year, Cecily's Girl Scout Troop went to Boomer's for a fun day of rides and games. Sinead's Birthday Party 06-18-14

Happy 10th Birthday, Sinead! We celebrated with a ride on the Big Red Bus. We started off with donuts at Mother's Beach before boarding the bus and taking a nice drive through Long Beach and Seal Beach. We stopped in Seal Beach for the kids to play some games before heading back to Mother's Beach for pizza and cake. Last Day of School & Nicolette's Birthday 06-17-14

Can't believe it's the last day of fourth grade! The school year went by so fast. They had their last Pelican Pride Assembly of the year, then we gave Mrs. Murdock her end-of-the-year gift: a money pizza with gift cards. After school, we headed to the beach to help Nicolette celebrate her 10th birthday. Cecily was nervous about it because of her arm, but she ended up having so much fun with Olivia and Abigail. Father's Day 06-15-14

Happy Father's Day! We took our annual trip to Legoland to celebrate with Allen, Cindy, Brendan, and Quinn. Cecily had so much fun going on the rides and seeing the shows with Brendan. Cast & Charlize's Birthday 06-13-14

Happy Friday the 13th! It was a lucky day for Cecily because she got her cast off! Cecily was really nervous about the saw they use for removing the cast, but the tech didn't even give her a chance to think about it since he started cutting as soon as we got in the room. She had nothing to worry about as he popped it off pretty quickly. The doctor said her arm was still broken, but that it was healing nicely. After getting her cast off, we headed straight to Charlize's 10th birthday party. The kids swam, ate bbq hamburgers, and had a great time. Beach Day 06-12-14

Poor Cecily still had her cast on for 4th Grade Beach Day. Instead of the normal June gloom, it was a beautiful day. Each class had such cute decorations for their EZ-Ups. Our EZ-Up was pirate themed to go with our teacher's class theme. The kids even got to enjoy Kona Ice as a treat. Italian Street Chalk 06-10-14

The fourth and fifth graders had a fun assembly today with an Italian Street Chalk Painter. They learned about how the artists painted on the street with chalk to create amazing pictures. Then all the kids worked in pairs to create either a patriotic themed picture or a summer themed picture. Twin Day 06-06-14

Cecily was so excited for Twin Day at school this year because she wanted to match with her new BFF Emma. Amy and Caren took the girls to Tilly's, Old Navy, and Children's Place before the girls could agree on something that they both liked. Harbour View Band 06-05-14

Cecily had been participating in the after school band class at Harbour View. They got to play at the school picnic yesterday, and at their last class today, they played a special show for the parents. Even though her broken arm made it hard for her to play, Cecily still tried her best. Harbour View Picnic 06-04-14

The annual year-end picnic was called the Harbour View Hoedown this year. Caren spent the morning helping them set up and wrap hot dogs. The Harbour View Band that Cecily was a part of played at the beginning of the picnic. Hidden Talents 06-02-14

For the Casino Night Silent Auction, Caren had won a painting session for Cecily with her school principal, Mrs. O, at Hidden Talents with four other kids. The other kids happened to be kids she knows and is friends with - Nicolette, Scarlett, Aidan, and Allie. They had a lot of fun getting Rita's Italian Ice next door and painting their projects at Hidden Talents. Seaworld & Eric's Birthday 05-31-14

Cecily's new friend Emma invited her to spend the night at SeaWorld with her Girl Scout Troop. Caren warned Cecily that she would not drive down to San Diego to pick her up in the middle of the night, but Cecily did great. She had a fabulous time at SeaWorld. They drove down Friday afternoon and participated in fun activities at SeaWorld before getting to sleep in the beluga whale exhibit. In the evening, Caren and Richard drove down to Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast to help celebrate their friend Eric's 60th birthday. They started with appetizers and champagne on the patio before moving into the private dining room for dinner. Kelly hadn't wanted to ask Caren to bring her camera since she wanted her to enjoy being a guest, but she was so happy when Caren whipped her camera out of her purse.
