We celebrated the end of the Chinese New Year at Grandma and Papa's house with a delicious dinner. Cecily got to see Catherine's new pet chickens plus Stewie. She loved getting her red envelopes from everyone. She was also lucky to get to go swimming in between the rain storms at our old house for the last time.
Caren took Cecily out of school early for a special Disney Day with Charlize and Ann. We went to Disneyland first and rode the double decker Omnibus (which Cecily rode for the first time last weekend with Grandma Lynn and Grandpa Otto). We saw Cinderella's mice and the Fairy Godmother, rode the carousel, watched Tiana's Mardi Gras show, explored Tarzan's Treehouse, and watched the Disney characters play musical chairs. Then we headed over to California Adventure where we watched the High School Musical 3 parade, ate free tortillas and sourdough bread, and rode Jumpin' Jellyfish two times in a row. We stopped at Marceline's in Downtown Disney for a quick treat before heading over to Company D for some shopping.
Cecily celebrated the 100th day at school in her class. The kids did lots of activities that helped them practice to count to 100. They made 100th day hats which they got to wear. Zero the Hero came in to visit. He gave them cool stamps and a yummy treat.
We moved! We found a beautiful English Tudor house that is super close to Cecily's school. Now we finally have plenty of space to spread out our stuff!
Cecily's Daisy troop enjoyed the annual Girl Scout Thinking Day tonight. Cecily went with her friend Sinead, and they got to go around to the booths with the rest of their troop. They got to see all different level of Girl Scouts (other Daisies, Brownies, and Girl Scouts).
Cecily had her Daisy Scout meeting today after school. The girls played buddy tag, made paper plate tambourines with popcorn kernels (which will be their item for Thinking Day), and made bags to use for our upcoming field trip to the Food Closet. Cecily was very excited to wear her new Girl Scout t-shirt, and her friend Alexandria in her troop was also wearing the same shirt today.
Cecily's kindergarten class had an Asian Celebration today in honor of the Lunar New Year. Moms brought in Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese food for a delicious lunch. The kids learned about the new year, made new year books, and each got their own red envelope with a brand new dollar bill.
We celebrated the year of the Tiger with a delicious Chinese lunch at Lotus. Then in the evening, we went over to Laira's house for a fun dinner. Anissa had a make your own burrito dinner followed by a chocolate fondue brought over by Jacob's mom, Sam. The kids loved playing together while the adults enjoyed several games of the Price is Right on the Wii.
In preparation for Valentine's Day, Cecily's class created a post office to "mail" and "deliver" their Valentines to each other. The kids had to address envelopes to each of their classmates, "buy" stamps, and "mail" the Valentines at their class post office. Everyone got a turn to work in the post office, and they spread out the mail delivery over 5 days.
Finally, on Friday, the kids were able to open their Valentine mail. Cecily also happened to be the special helper that day. In the morning, they did Valentine activities for their centers. After lunch, they opened their Valentines and enjoyed some treats. Cecily had her very first Fun Dip at the park after school, and she loved it.
We went to the ballet at the library today with Isobel and Emma. The girls had so much fun seeing the ballet and can't wait to see the next production in April. After the ballet, we went to dinner with Isobel and Trish before heading over to the Disney Store for a special storytime and Valentine craft.
We had our Playgroup Valentine party today at Michael's house. The kids had a lot of fun playing, and we enjoyed Kimberly's delicious chicken parmesean before the kids exchanged Valentine's.
We had a great visit with Richard's family in Phoenix. Cecily enjoyed Emily's birthday party, and the kids had a great time playing together. Cecily also loved flying to Phoenix and flying home. She really liked sitting by the window, and she can't wait to fly again.
Cecily and her cousins started off the morning building a fun craft at Home Depot. Emily's pajama 7th birthday party was in the evening. The kids got to make their own pizzas for dinner, make their own fleece pillows, play an easy version of Bunco (although Cecily opted out of this one), have birthday cake, watch Emily open presents, play in Emily's room, watch "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," and do a little scavenger hunt.
Thursday night 02-04-10 was Dawn and Conrad's date night. But after dropping Paige off at our house, Conrad had to go to the hospital so Paige ended up having a surprise sleepover at our house. Paige watched TV in Cecily's bed while Cecily fell asleep downstairs on the couch, but at one point during the night, they were sleeping soundly together in Cecily's bed (until Paige's crazy kicking drove Cecily into our bed).
Then tonight, we flew to Phoenix to visit Richard's family. Cecily had flown before when she was little and didn't remember. She carried her own little backpack and rolled her own luggage. We had a Daisy Scout Meeting today after school. The girls learned about the upcoming Thinking Day and how we would be doing corn as our theme. To learn more about corn, we did a fun activity showing that corn becomes kernels which we pop into popcorn. So the girls colored a cut-out paper corn and glued popcorn onto it. They even enjoyed snacking on the popcorn as they worked. At the end of the meeting, the girls got their incentives and prizes for selling nuts and magazines in the fall.
