Painting & More 08-27-14
While the neighbors were out of town, Cecily helped feed and walk their dog so we were also able to use their pool. On Monday night, Caren and Richard took Kelly and Eric out to Captain Jack's for a belated birthday dinner for Kelly. Eric drove them over in their Duffy, and they enjoyed the peaceful harbor on their way there and back. 08-25-14
On Wednesday, Cecily and Scarlett got to go to a free paint class at Timree so she could train a new teacher, Alyssa. Caren got to paint too, and she had a hard time keeping up with the girls. The pictures all turned out pretty cute. 08-27-14
Cecily was invited to go to the Discovery Science Center with our neighbors (Harper and Remi) on Thursday while Caren prepared for the upcoming welcome back teacher brunch at Harbour View on Friday. Caren hired a crepe cart to come make crepes for the teachers. Caren and Shari went with a pink and black Parisian theme, the crepe guy played French music, and the kids helping out with the back to school packets all got a free crepe.

Pirate Boat 08-23-14
Aunt Cindy invited Cecily to join them for a fun pirate boat ride in Oxnard. So we met them for breakfast at Bob's Big Boy to get Cecily to them. After breakfast, Cecily and Brendan built wooden alien puppets at Lowe's before they headed up to Oxnard for the pirate boat. Cecily had so much fun and was supposed to spend the night at Aunt Cindy and Uncle Allen's new house, but she got homesick so Caren had to go pick her up. Luckily, Cindy met her halfway in Fullerton so Caren didn't have to drive all the way up to Walnut.

Anniversary 08-19-14
Happy 13th Anniversary to us! Lucky #13! We celebrated with a delicious teppan dinner at Tsunami Sushi. We even got our own private teppan table with the best chef we have had. Cecily loved being able to go out with us for our anniversary.

Camping 08-17-14
We were invited to go camping with several other families at Campland on the Bay in Mission Bay, San Diego this past weekend. It was Cecily's first time camping, and it was our first time camping as a family. None of us were looking forward to this camping trip, but it turned out to be fun. We drove down Friday after our Legoland Master Builder Session with a stop at Board and Brew in Del Mar for lunch. There were 8 of us next to each other at our campsite (with 3 other families at the campground in different locations). The rule for the kids was that they had to stick in pairs to explore the campground on their razor scooters. Campland had a skate park, playground, pool with hot tub, beach, dog park, and evening concerts. On Friday night they had a Green Day tribute band, and on Saturday night it was a Tom Petty tribute band. We took turns and shared dinner cooking. We cooked dinner Friday night (carne asada, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.), so we got to enjoy yummy pulled pork cooked by other families on Saturday night. Cecily loved having the freedom to roam with a buddy. Her favorite had to be going to the bay beach with her new friend Kiran, who is going into 6th grade. Now she knows the importance of why she will be doing Junior Lifeguards next summer. Cecily is already planning what she wants to do when we go again next year (bring her penny board), so we'll see if we make the cut to be invited back again. On the way home, we had to drive through UCSD to see the Sun God and check out what was new.

Legoland 08-15-14
On our way down to San Diego for our first ever family camping trip, we stopped at Legoland for our annual Lego Master Builder Session. This year, we helped build "minilanders" in costumes to put out during the Halloween festivities in the New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade in Miniland. Cecily decided she wanted to make Thing One, so Caren made Thing 2. Then Caren made a girl in a pumpkin costume while Cecily made a witch. Richard worked hard on his two person zebra. The minilanders turned out pretty good. Can't wait to see them in Miniland when we go back for Brick or Treat in October.

Scarlett's Birthday Party 08-12-14
Happy 10th Birthday, Scarlett! We celebrated at her beach bash and bonfire. Cecily had so much fun in the ocean swimming and bodyboarding. They cooked hot dogs in the fire for dinner and played soccer on the sand. We ended the night with smores over the fire. Yum!

Girl Scout Camp 08-08-14
Cecily enjoyed another fun week at Girl Scout Camp. Her friend, Cambria, was in the red group with her. Allie was in the light blue group, Sophia was in the purple group, Nicolette was in the yellow group with Felicia, Olivia was in the green group, and Emily and Danielle were in the blue group with Kayla. The camp theme was superheros, and the girls liked making lanyards and crafts as well as playing games and singing songs. Cecily was very excited to look forward to being a camper aid in training for next summer at this camp.

Cole's Birthday Party 08-02-14
Happy 7th Birthday, Cole! We helped him celebrate at his superhero party. Cecily loved the giant bounce/slide obstacle course. They had Spiderman and Captain America come to entertain the kids, while serving snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, and a delicious taco cart. Cecily and Caren really enjoyed all the yummy cotton candy!
