Playgroup Egg Hunt 03-31-10

We had our annual playgroup Easter egg hunt at John Baca Park. In the morning, we were worried that we might be rained out. Luckily, the sun came through, and the kids enjoyed hunting Easter eggs at the park before heading to McDonald's for dinner.

Easter Bunny 03-27-10

We checked out the Easter activities today at SeaCliff Village after building a kaleidescope at Lowe's. They had a decorate your own Easter beach bucket craft at the Food Court and a fun egg hunt in the produce section at Albertson's. Some stores gave out candy and easter eggs as well. The kids visited with two Easter bunnies (one in the Food Court and one in Albertson's). Can't believe that Easter is coming up next weekend!

Greek Day 03-26-10

Yesterday was Greek Independence Day. So today after lunch, Cecily's kindergarten class celebrated with a little party. Her friend, Alexsia's mom is Greek, and she did a little presentation for their class. She talked a little about Greece, gave each child their name in Greek, and provided yummy Greek snacks for everyone. She also brought in some Greek dancers, who showed off some Greek dances, then taught the class a few dances as well.

Cookie Booth & Laira's Birthday 03-20-10

We had our last Girl Scout Cookie Booth Sale at Vons. It was a super booth, so all the girls that wanted to come could come (usually they are only allowed to have four girls at a booth). The girls did a great job selling cookies. Now we are all done until next year!

After selling cookies, we headed over to Frogg's Bounce House to celebrate Laira's 6th birthday. Cecily had such a great time bouncing and sliding with Laira and Jacob.

St. Patrick's Day 03-17-10

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
We started off the day with some fun activities at school. Sinead's parents brought in scones and soda bread for the kids to eat, and her mom read a story and taught them a little Irish. The kids made leprechaun traps and did some special St. Patrick's day math as well.

At our Daisy Troop meeting after school, Sinead's mom taught the girls how to make Irish soda bread in honor of St. Patricks' Day. The girls also filled Easter eggs to donate to the food closet and wrote thank you notes for our food closet field trip host, the cookie cupboard where we got all our Girl Scout cookies, and Starbucks who hosted our first cookie booth sale.

After Girl Scouts, our playgroup friends came over to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We had some delicious corned beef and cabbage, Shepherd's pie, and a Guinness chocolate cake with a whiskey cream frosting.

California Adventure 03-15-10

Since this week was minimum days for parent/teacher conferences, we went to California Adventure after school today. We met up with Cecily's friend Abbie from her Girl Scout troop. It was hot so we tried to stay cool by staying inside. We watched Playhouse Disney and Turtle Talk, rode Monsters' Inc., and watched the Pixar Play Parade.

Cecily had another Cookie Booth sale this morning at Ralphs. The girls took turns holding fun signs to attract customers, and they sold all the cookies that they had at the booth! They even had a mystery shopper that gave them a Blue Ribbon award for conducting a fantastic Girl Scout Cookie Booth Sale.

Legoland 03-13-10

We took Charlize down to Legoland today for the afternoon. The girls enjoyed going on the rides and playing with Lego bricks. But their favorite part of the day was playing in the water spray area. It was a little chilly, but the sun helped keep them warm.

Daisy Troop Field Trip 03-03-10

We had our Daisy Meeting today after school. But instead of having a meeting, we went on a field trip to the Food Closet. The girls packed bags with food for families and bags with lunches for individuals. They had fun and learned a lot.
