Cecily had her first summer camp with VBS at Redeemer Lutheran. Her friends Jacob, Bronson, and Kayla were in her blue Kiki group. They had fun making crafts and learning new songs. We also signed up for the HB Library Summer Reading Program this week. Cecily had to miss the last day of VBS because we went to visit Grandma Lynn & Grandpa Otto.

Happy Father's Day 06-19-11
We took our annual trip to Legoland for Father's Day, but we brought along Allen, Cindy, and Brendan. Brendan's first trip to Legoland also happened to be Allen's first Father's Day. It was also Star Wars weekend, so we got to see a lot of cool Star Wars things. We ended our day with a delicious dinner at Tip Top Meats. Yum!

We celebrated Paige's 7th birthday at her Minute to Win It party. Dawn had fun party games that the kids had to complete in a minute or less. Each kid also came home with their own Minute to Win It game.

Legoland & Sealife Aquarium 06-17-11
For the first day of summer vacation, we took Jacob and Madi to Legoland and Sealife Aquarium. It was a little gloomy in the morning, but the sun finally came out so that the kids could have fun in the wet Pirate Shores area of Legoland.

Last Day of School 06-16-11
Today was the last day of first grade for Cecily. It started out as a rainy day, pushing the outdoor Pelican Pride assembly indoors. It also forced the first grade field day into the classrooms instead of being out on the grass. Luckily, it dried up, and the sun finally came out so Cecily was able to enjoy the last day of school pool party at Jacob and Madi's house.

First Grade Beach Day 06-14-11
All the first graders had their beach day today on Humboldt Island. The kids walked to the beach from school and enjoyed a day of fun in the water and sand. We provided the kids with their own beach buckets and shovels, snacks (popcorn, goldfish, grapes, watermelon), pizza lunch, and otter pops.

Birthday Party Weekend 06-12-11
We started off our crazy birthday party weekend with Charlize's 7th birthday party. After picking up the kids at school (and getting feathers put in their hair), we headed to Charlize's sister Cecilia's house. The kids swam and had pizza for dinner before getting their hair done and dressed for a photo shoot. It was also Cecily's very first slumber party, and they all fell asleep watching the Justin Bieber movie. Caren spent the night too to help out. 06-10-11
Nicolette's 7th birthday party was also a slumber party, but Caren didn't think Cecily could handle a sleepover two nights in a row (and not having mommy with her the second night). The kids loved the space theme in the glow-in-the-dark room. 06-11-11
Our last party was celebrating Sinead's 7th birthday. The kids loved jumping in the trampoline, watching the magician, and playing pass the parcel. Caren let Sinead's sister Fiona use her camera to take pictures during the magic show and while Sinead opened her presents. Now, she wants her own camera. HV Picnic & Bronson's Birthday 06-08-11
After school was Harbour View's annual year-end picnic. Cecily enjoyed eating her hot dog lunch, watching the watermelon eating contest, and playing the fun games.
From the picnic, we went to Bronson's 7th birthday party at Pattinson Park. Cecily got to make her own ice cream sundae and watched as the other kids did a water balloon relay race and fight.

Papa's Birthday 06-04-11
We helped Papa celebrate his birthday with a yummy lunch at Matt Denny's. Then we spent some time with Allen, Cindy, Brendan, Stewie, and Brian at Papa and Grandma's house. Cecily ended up having a sleepover with Grandma. Allen and Cindy brought her back down to us the next day. Cindy wanted Cecily to stay with her longer, and Cecily can't wait to do that when school is out.

Volunteer Appreciation 06-02-11
Harbour View honored all the parent volunteers today at a special Pelican Pride Assembly and breakfast. Cecily's teacher gave the parents in her classroom a nice certificate, dog notepad, and a donation made in our names to the HB Dog Beach. As room mom, Caren also got a special Hallmark Willow Tree figurine.

Disney Day 06-01-11
We had been looking forward to previewing the new Star Tours and Little Mermaid rides. Unfortunately, Cecily was grounded and couldn't go. Richard and Caren still went and had a good time. Both rides were great. Ariel's Undersea Adventure had a posted wait of 60 minutes, but it ended up being only 30 minutes. Star Tours we walked right on as soon as we got our fast passes. Since there are 54 combinations, you don't know what trip you will be taking. We saw Darth Vader & Admiral Ackbar, and we visited Hoth and Coruscant. We enjoyed a fried chicken dinner at Plaza Inn as we watched the new Mickey's Soundsational Parade. After eating, we tried to ride Star Tours one more time, but the line was full of people and we had to pick up Cecily. Too bad Cecily was bad and had to miss out.
