Duck Park 02-24-13

We met Emma and Amanda at the park to feed the ducks. The ducks and geese were so excited about the bread, that they surrounded us. We even saw pelicans in the lake. The girls took a break to eat Girl Scout cookies, then we went for walk around the lake. It was fun, and we got to see horses. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VTJw

Cookie Booth 02-23-13

We had our last cookie booth sale at Vons after swimming today. The girls did great, asking customers to buy cookies and dealing with money. It seemed like a lot of people were cookied out, telling us they had already bought 12 boxes and eaten 1,000 cookies. The girls still sold a lot of cookies though. Now, with only about 15 boxes to go, Cecily will have sold 300 boxes of cookies this year! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VTFA

Cookie Booth 02-20-13

We had our second cookie booth at Trader Joe's today during our usual meeting time. It was cold, and there was less traffic than a normal grocery store would have. But the girls did a good job selling. They were really doing well with handling the money and change as well. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VTBQ

Los Angeles 02-17-13

After Ted's birthday party, we picked up Alexsia and Kelly and headed up to Los Angeles for a girls slumber party. Kelly owns a condo in the Wilshire corridor, so she invited us there for a fun sleepover. When we had dropped off our stuff at the condo, we drove over to the Grove for some shopping at the American Girl store and dinner at Greek Meze Cuisine. We got some dessert at Dylan's Candy Shop before walking through the Farmer's Market. We ended our night with a dip in the hot tub and some TV with snacks. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSyA We started off the next morning with breakfast, crafts, and swimming, before heading over to the Century City mall for lunch at Gulfstream and more shopping. Cecily had so much fun she wanted to stay in L.A. longer. Kelly told us she wanted us to come back up for a whole weekend with Richard so we could do fun family stuff together. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VS2Q

Ted's Birthday Party 02-16-13

Happy 9th Birthday Ted! We helped him celebrate at his Prehistoric Pets birthday party. Last time Cecily was at this place for a party, she was not very in to touching all the cool reptiles. However, this time, she really enjoyed herself. She touched every animal except the tarantula because she had gone to the bathroom and missed it. Caren was proud of Trish for the awesome cucumber snake and the snake goodie bags (which they found on pinterest together). We missed singing happy birthday and the cake because we had to leave early to head up to Los Angeles for a fun mom/daughter weekend with Alexsia and Kelly. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSvw

Cookie Booth 02-15-13

Our Brownie Girl Scout Troop donated playground balls to Harbour View, so Mrs. O had the girls each deliver two balls to two different classrooms. It was nice for the girls to see how it was to actually give back to their school. Today was the first official day for booth sales of Girl Scout Cookies, and our troop had our first booth sale at Albertson's. The girls did really well selling lots of cookies, then they celebrated a job well done with a bbq at Ava's house afterwards. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSnQ

Valentine's Day 12-14-13

Happy Valentine's Day! Caren made Cecily toast with a heart-shaped egg for breakfast. Her class didn't have a party, but they did exchange Valentines. Caren loved seeing all the different boxes the kids made to collect their Valentines. Cecily used her box from last year, but she did give out very cute fortune teller valentines. We used this one that Caren found on Pinterest: Valentine Fortune Teller. The kids were excited to open their Valentines in class. Caren also decided that after asking Richard for a Lego heart necklace the last couple years, she finally made one for herself and one for Cecily. We ended our night with an oh-so-romantic dinner as a family at Jon's. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSjA

Cotillion 02-12-13

Tonight was our first cotillion of 2013. Cecily complained she didn't like it, but she was excited to get dressed when we got home from school. The kids learned a new dance tonight, the waltz. When they played their game, Manton was Cecily's partner (a boy from her class at Harbour View). They actually did pretty well and were the fourth to last couple to be eliminated. After cotillion, we took the kids out to dinner at Tsunami's for teppan. Cecily was the only one who had teppan before, and the kids loved watching the cook make their food. At the end, they got a little silly and started their own dance party in the back of the restaurant. Once we were done eating, we had to make our trip to Baskin Robbins for Cecily's four scoops of ice scream (because it was her fourth cotillion). Our friend Shari suggested we take a trip to Farrell's after cotillion is over for this year to celebrate. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSYg

Chinese New Year 02-10-13

Happy Year of the Snake! On Monday, we went to the Asian Mall in Westminster with Emily and Denise to buy the kids new Chinese dresses and see the Chinese New Year decorations. On Friday, Cecily gave her teacher, Mrs. Peasely, a small Chinese New Year gift. Then we headed up to Pasadena to celebrate with Caren's family on Saturday. We had a yummy hot pot dinner with Papa, Grandma, Uncle Allen, Aunt Cindy, Brendan, and Clement. Cecily was excited to open all her red envelopes. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSJg
On Sunday, we had some friends over to celebrate Chinese New Year. Caren made fried rice, potstickers, and green onion pancakes. The kids did a snake craft and a Chinese New Year word search. Cecily and Isobel had fun throwing the poppers on the ground before Isobel had to leave. All the kids went home with special snake lanterns to make. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSQA

Brownie Meeting 02-06-13

At our Brownie meeting today, we had Alexsia's dad, Eric, come give an art talk about murals. Since Eric owns an art gallery, he was perfect to come help the girls earn their Artist Patch. He talked about different kinds of murals before the girls got to work together to paint their own murals with a Harbour View/Huntington Beach theme. The girls did a great job working together to create their own murals. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSFQ

Home Depot, Cookies, & Brendan 02-02-13

Saturday was a crazy busy day. We started off at Home Depot, building a Valentine holder with Brendan and Isobel.
After lunch, Cecily headed outside to sell Girl Scout Cookies on the corner with Allie while our piano was delivered.
Cecily, Allie, and Sophie played at the park until Brendan joined us. Then we went grocery shopping, and we can't believe Cecily can fit in the car shopping cart with Brendan! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VSBA

Assembly & Earth Friendly 02-01-13

Our Brownie Troop was honored at Harbour View's monthly patriotic assembly for donating playground equipment (jumpropes & balls) and money to go towards the new school mural. Cecily was very nervous to be in front of the whole school, but she loved being able to hold the giant check from our troop. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VRyw
After school, we headed to Earth Friendly Products for a playgroup tour. It was also Richard's first time at the facilities. Kelly was a gracious hostess as usual, and we got to see so much of the company (roof solar panels, production lines, storage warehouse, organic garden, etc.). Gina and Trish were excited to get some free samples of their products to try at home. When we got home, Cecily went out on our corner to sell Girl Scout cookies. Later in the evening, Cindy and Brendan came to surprise Cecily with a sleepover at our house. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8UbNGrdw3VR2g
