Brownie Meeting & Cookies 01-30-13

Cecily had her Brownie troop meeting today where they learned about first aid. The girls took turns making and taking 911 calls, and they also made their own mini first aid kit with Altoid tins, band aids, alcohol wipes, and safety pins. Girl Scout Cookies 01-27-13

It's Girl Scout Cookie time! Caren picked up 114 cases of cookies yesterday for Cecily's troop, and today was the official start of Girl Scout cookie sales. Our neighbor, Allie, was going around the neighborhood with her dad in the morning, and they stopped by to pick up Cecily and Caren to go sell door to door. The girls had fun, and it helped boost their confidence to work together. In the evening, Paige, Dawn, and Conrad came over for dinner so Paige could be Cecily's official annual first cookie customer. Caren also prepared a cute photo collage for Richard to take to work to help sell Cecily's Girl Scout cookies. Cecily sold about 200 boxes last year, and she decided on her own that her goal to sell for this year was 350 boxes. Date Night 01-26-13

We finally had our date night with Michelle and her boyfriend Edmund. Edmund recommended, Racion, a Spanish tapas restaurant in Old Town Pasadena. When Caren checked out the restaurant online, she realized that she knew the owner, Loretta, from high school (they were on Varsity Tennis and in Latin class together). After leaving Cecily with Grandma and Papa, we headed to Racion for dinner. We ended up with nine different tapas plus a $65 bottle of wine (lucky for Richard, Caren didn't know how much it was when he ordered it!!), and all the food was delicious. Cousins 01-21-13

Surprise! Cecily was excited to see her cousins when she opened the door on Friday night. They had a fun slumber party in her room. The next morning, we had our belated Christmas. Brownie Meeting 01-16-13

Cecily earned her Meet My Customers cookie patch at her Brownie Girl Scout meeting today. The girls talked about who would want to buy cookies, what they could do with the money they earn, practiced selling to each other, learned to make change and handle money, and made thank you cards for their customers. Girl Scout Theater Workshop 01-13-13

Some of the girls in our Brownie troop went to a special Girl Scout Theater Workshop at Huntington Beach High School. The girls got to tour the theater, check out backstage, see the costumes and props, and learn a short dance. Then we had reserved seats to see the show, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Cecily has loved that show since she saw her cousin Katelyn in a production this summer. This show was directed and choreographed by the same people who did Katelyn's show. Cecily also knew a girl named Caitlyn, who was in the children's chorus, from her soccer team a couple years ago. Kayla's Birthday Party 01-12-13

Happy 8th Birthday, Kayla! Cecily helped her celebrate at her CPK birthday party. The kids got to make their own pizzas, take a tour of the California Pizza Kitchen kitchen, and enjoy either an ice cream or brownie dessert. Grandma's Birthday 01-05-13

Happy Birthday to Grandma! She decided she wants to celebrate her Chinese birthday which changes every year. This year, it happened to be earlier than her regular birthday. We had lunch with Grandma, Papa, Uncle Allen, Aunt Cindy, and Brendan. Cecily got to play with Brendan after lunch. Tooth & Disney on Ice 01-04-13

Our friends couldn't use their Disney on Ice tickets, so Caren and Cecily ended up taking Kayla as an early birthday gift for her. The show we watched was "Dare to Dream" with Princess and the Frog, Cinderella, and Tangled. We joined a few other girls from Cecily's girl scout troop there (Emily, Danielle, and Renee). The seats were great, and the kids loved the show. Cecily and Kayla picked out cotton candy to eat, and Kayla lost her tooth in the cotton candy! Beach Fun 01-02-13

When Richard's parents come to visit, they always want to go see the beach. So we took a nice drive down and up PCH, then walked down to the water in Sunset Beach.
