School Halloween 10-30-09

Harbour View had their annual Halloween parade this morning. Cecily changed her mind yet again on her costume, and she decided to be a witch for school. The kids got to parade around the school to show off their costumes. The teachers also showed off their awesome grade-themed costumes. The Kindergarten teachers were all different colors of playdoh. It was fun to see all the cool costumes.

After lunch, our class had their Halloween party. We set up stations so the kids could decorate their own cookies, get tattoos, make a treat bag, and bob for apples. They all had a lot of fun and went home with lots of goodies in their treat bags.

Pumpkin Patch 10-28-09

We went to the Pumpkin Patch with our playgroup after school. It was the worst Pumpkin Patch experience ever. The wind was so crazy, and we were being whipped in the face by straw and dirt. It made talking and doing activities very chaotic. The kids still seemed to do ok with picking out pumpkins. We did end up having a nice dinner at Claim Jumper afterwards.

Halloween Party 10-26-09

We had our annual Playgroup Halloween Party at Kimberly's tonight. The kids dressed up in their costumes and had a fabulous time playing and doing crafts.

Crafts & Halloween Party 10-24-09

Only one week until Halloween! We went to Lowe's to build a Frankentsein then headed over to Lakeshore to make a Halloween countdown. After that, we had lunch at Islands with our friends. Later in the afternoon, Grandma and PaPa came over. We had dinner together then went to the Sunset Beach Kids Halloween Party at the fire station. Cecily had so much fun playing the little games, decorating a pumpkin, collecting little treats, and bouncing in the bounce house.

Aloha Olympics 10-23-09

Harbour View had their fall fundraiser today, Aloha Olympics. The kids got sponsors to participate in little games with their classes. Cecily's class did the Crab Relay, Jump Rope Challenge, and the Kangaroo Relay. Cecily did the Crab Relay and didn't like that the grass was wet and muddy, so she did not want to do the other two events. But she watched her friends and then had fun collecting goodies from the booths that were set up from the neighboring Huntington Harbour Mall.

Gymnastics 10-22-09

Cecily started gymnastics in September, and she LOVES it. The class starts with all the girls in a warm-up activity. Then they split into small groups to do balance beam, bars, trampoline, and assorted floor work. Just from going for 2 months, Cecily has improved so much. She is always so excited to go to class.

First Daisy Scout Meeting 10-21-09

Cecily had her very first Daisy Girl Scout meeting after school. There are 12 girls including her in her troop from 5 different classes at her school. Caren is the co-leader so she gets to help out at every meeting. The girls loved wearing their new Daisy smocks, making invitations for their Investiture Ceremony, and singing songs. They can't wait for their next meeting! After the meeting, we headed over to the Disney Store for a Halloween Costume Event.

Piano & Disney 10-20-09

Cecily started piano lessons at Carden at the end of June with Ms. Murga. At first she really liked it, but now it might be getting a little hard for her (reading the notes and music). So we're going to take a break in November and December, and we'll see how she feels in January.

After piano, we went to Disneyland to check out the Halloween decorations. Cecily enjoyed coloring in the Halloween Round-Up as well as meeting Woody with her friends Jack and Tomi. They had so many cool pumpkins there. Then we rode Alice in Wonderland, Small World, Winnie the Pooh, and Pirates of the Caribbean before ending the evening watching the Halloween Screams fireworks.

Crafts 10-17-09

Lakeshore Learning has free crafts every Saturday in their stores for kids. Today, we went for the first time to see what it was like. Cecily, Kayla, and Sean had so much fun making their own popsicle stick scarecrow and fall leaf as well as getting their face painted. Cecily loved doing the craft. We will definately be going back on another Saturday for more crafts.

Pumpkin Patch 10-16-09

This morning, after dropping Cecily off at school, we went to Disneyland to ride the new Ghost Galaxy Space Mountain. After school, we took Cecily to the new pumpkin patch in Seal Beach. They had overpriced inflatable slides, but Cecily LOVED the sunken Titanic one.

Lowe's & Pumpkins 10-10-09

We started off the morning building a ball toss at Lowe's. Then we headed up to Pasadena to see PaPa. We went to a Pumpkin Patch to check out the pumpkins. Then we went back to PaPa's house to carve a pumpkin for him to keep at his house.

Lego & Disney 10-06-09

We went to the monthly Lego build at Downtown Disney. This month, the kids built a little Lego pumpkin. The girl at the Lego Store showed the kids each step, and all three kids built their pumpkins all by themself. After that, we headed into Disneyland to ride the Haunted Mansion Holiday (with the Nightmare Before Christmas theme) and to watch the Halloween Screams Fireworks.

Mickey's Trick or Treat 10-02-09

We attended the annual Mickey's Trick or Treat at California Adventure today. Cecily had an assembly at school this morning. Afterwards, she had her first meltdown of going to Kindergarten. Once Caren walked her to her room, she was ok for the rest of the day. After school, we headed to Disneyland to relax in the afternoon before our fun evening. Luckily, Cecily napped in the car on the way there so she could enjoy the night. In Downtown Disney, we happened to run into Cecily's friends Jessica and Charlize from school. Charlize's mom works at Disney 365, so the girls went and had some glitter put in their hair. Cecily's friends went to Disneyland for the evening, and we had dinner at Storyteller's Cafe before changing into our costumes. We weren't able to find Dawn and Paige, but we did run into Randi, Jordyn, and Maya. Luckily, they weren't with us when we finally met up with Richard's sister's family (who got stuck in the car for 8 hours driving out here, then had to park in some crazy place). Unfortunately, Doug caught H1N1, so he had a miserable weekend. We were all exposed to it, so now we have to take preventitive Tamiflu. Cecily had a blast at the Trick or Treat party, and she really enjoyed the weekend with her cousins.
